Google's move to turn off cookies in Chrome

The world's biggest tech companies make money from user data. Google has taken the initiative to ban third-party cookies for the first time. The news is not hidden. It is important to ensure personal safety and privacy when using the Internet. In this case, it is also necessary to think about the control of the browser's cookies.

Google will test new features in the Chrome browser as part of the cookie ban. A cookie is some special file or information. Various advertisers use cookies to show ads based on Internet users' browsing data.

Google has said that they will introduce a new feature called Tracking Protection. The feature to stop cross-site tracking is said to be rolling out early next month. Google plans to completely stop using third-party cookies by the second half of 2024. Earlier, Apple took the initiative to block third-party cookies in all browsers including Safari. As a result, the income of all cookie-dependent advertising merchants, including Facebook, has decreased significantly. Apple said at the time that it prioritized user security and privacy. The CMA is investigating Google's plans to ban cookies. As a result of this initiative, it will be examined whether there is any obstacle in digital advertising competition.
